Microsoft raises Xbox Series X console and Game Pass subscription prices

Microsoft is raising Xbox Series X console and Xbox Game Pass subscription prices. The former increases by fifty euros to 550 euros. The suggested retail price for the Xbox Series S will not be increased.

Microsoft says in a statement to The Verge to have chosen a price increase to “reflect competitive conditions in each market”. The price increase for the Xbox Series X console applies to most countries. Exceptions include the US and Japan because the console has already been increased in price there earlier in the year. In addition, the price for the Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription also increases by two euros to 15 euros per month. The regular Game Pass subscription for consoles will be one euro per month more expensive and will therefore cost 11 euros per month. All price increases will take place on August 1.

Increased last year Sony has already announced the prices of its PlayStation 5 consoles. The disc version went from 500 euros to 550 euros and the suggested retail price of the version without a disc tray was increased by 50 euros to 450 euros. Unlike Sony, Xbox is not yet increasing the price of its discless Series S. It retains its suggested retail price of 300 euros for the 512GB version. In September appears a 1TB variant of the Series S that should cost 350 euros.
