Nvidia will soon release plugins that will make it easier for developers to add DLSS 3 Frame Generation to their games. The feature will be available for Unreal Engine 5.2 and via the Nvidia Streamline framework. DLSS 3 is also coming to some new games.
Nvidia writes that its DLSS 3 plugin for Unreal Engine 5.2 will be debuted during the GDC. That conference for game developers will take place the week of March 20. Epic Games previously hinted at the arrival of Unreal Engine 5.2 during the GDC . The add-on should enable developers using that engine version to implement the feature directly into their titles. Nvidia previously introduced DLSS 2 plugins for Unreal Engine.
DLSS 3 will also be available through Nvidia Streamline , a framework that makes it easier for developers to add upscaling to their games. Streamline sits between the game engine and APIs such as DirectX and Vulkan and should make it easier to implement techniques such as DLSS. Furthermore, DLSS 3 will be added to several games. The feature will appear on March 28 via an update for the PC version of Forza Horizon 5. The PC versions of Redfall and Diablo IV will also get the feature integrated when those games come out, on May 2 and June 6 respectively.
Nvidia announced DLSS 3 in September last year . Like DLSS 2, this feature offers upscaling, which renders a game at a lower resolution and then upscales it. This should ensure higher frame rates with minimal loss of quality. News, however, is DLSS Frame Generation, which interpolates ‘new’ frames on RTX 40 video cards. Tweakers previously wrote background stories about the operation of upscaling techniques such as DLSS and about the operation of DLSS Frame Generation .
