Twitter would like to charge companies $1,000 a month for a gold verification check. The company is currently finalizing plans for this, although that price could still change, writes The Information.
The Information has acquiring internal documents stating that the company would pay $1,000 per month questions for the golden yellow check marks that now exist on the platform. That amount would be per company, not per account. In addition to the $1,000, Twitter also wants to charge $50 for verification checks on related accounts.
According to documents from The Information, the plan is currently being finalized, but prices could change. Companies that do not pay for verification will automatically lose their check mark in the future, although it is not yet clear when exactly this will happen.
Twitter has been trying to earn money from verification check marks in various ways since the takeover by Elon Musk and associated subscription features. The company has often completely overhauled the verification process and UI in recent weeks and then regularly reversed it. Since November there are golden-yellow checkmarks , which are only intended for governments and companies. It is not clear whether governments will soon have to pay for the golden check mark. There is also a gray checkmark that indicates that a company or organization has been verified, but has not been paid for it.
