The entry-level version of the ASUS ROG Ally will cost $599.99, according to sources. Converted with VAT, that is about 652 euros. This version of the gaming handheld would be equipped with the regular Z1 APU, 16GB of Lpddr5 RAM and a 256GB NVMe SSD.
The alleged specifications of the entry-level version come from leaker SnoopyTech who also previously shared the price and specifications of the ROG Ally with AMD Z1 Extreme apu on Twitter. That version of the gaming handheld would go for $ 699 in the United States. This version would also receive 16GB of Lppdr5 memory and a 512GB NVMe SSD. It is currently not clear whether there will be any further differences between the two versions.
According to AMD AMD Ryzen Z1 apu contains six Zen 4 compute cores that together can handle twelve threads. The regular Z1 gets four RDNA3 graphics cores and 22 MB of cache memory. According to AMD, the chipset achieves 2.8 teraflops. The Ryzen Z1 Extreme contains eight Zen 4 computing cores and can handle sixteen threads. This chip gets twelve RDNA3 graphics cores and also a cache memory of 22MB. According to the American chip manufacturer, the Z1 Extreme achieves 8.6 teraflops.
According to AMD, the Ryzen Z1 series is specifically intended for use in handhelds intended for PC gaming. The processors would be optimized for a relatively high battery life.
