Bobby Kotick, CEO of Activision Blizzard thinks artificial intelligence will have an extraordinary impact on game development. The man states that AI makes certain things possible during game development that would otherwise not be possible.
The editors of game website Kotaku got hold of recordings of a conversation Bobby Kotick allegedly had with his employees. During that conversation, the CEO of Activision Blizzard stated that he believes artificial intelligence could have both a positive and a negative impact on society. As far as game development is concerned, artificial intelligence would have a distinctly positive impact, according to the man. “It will ensure that we can do things that we couldn’t do before,” it said.
Kotick also cited a home game as an example with Guitar Hero. “I’ve always had an idea of what the next Guitar Hero should look like,” he said. “But without processors in phones, computers and consoles that enable AI, AI was never possible in practice. Until now”, he said without going into detail about what he means concretely. “In the next five to seven years, AI will have an extraordinary impact on game development.”
