Apple plans to announce its MR headset at the WWDC developer conference next month. That writes The Wall Street Journal based on insiders. The paper claims that the headset will ship ‘early’ in the fall, but that target could still change.
A demo version of the device will be shown at the WWDC conference on June 5, writes The Wall StreetJournal. Due to production problems, the product could not be mass-produced until September. There would also be challenges in ‘integrating the headset with the new software’. That is why “some Apple employees and suppliers” wonder whether the fall target will be achieved, or whether the product will be delayed, the newspaper writes.
The Wall Street Journal states that the mixed reality headset is in an ‘experimental phase ‘ is released, but that Apple ‘doesn’t want to wait any longer because it would take too long to make the most ideal version, competitors are already on the market and the company has already put a lot of money and resources into development’. The WSJ writes that an improved version of the headset should appear in 2025.
The article also shares a lot of information about the headset that other sources have already announced. For example, the newspaper writes that the headset has an external battery, which The Information brought before, that it will have a goggle-like design and that the device should cost around $3000.
