Blizzard has announced BlizzCon 2023. The game developer and publisher’s event will take place on November 3 and 4. It will be the first physical BlizzCon since 2019 and will be held at the Anaheim Convention Center in California, United States.
At the event, Blizzard typically announces new games and expansions, as well as development plans for existing live service games. In terms of content, the company leaves the corresponding blog post, on the other hand, nothing yet, although it is almost inevitable that there will be announcements about World of Warcraft, Overwatch 2, Diablo IV and Hearthstone will be made.
BlizzCon 2023 is the first physical event since 2019; a virtual event called BlizzConline was held only in 2021. In 2020 and 2021, the physical event was canceled due to the corona pandemic. Another online event was planned in 2022, but that was postponed indefinitely. The company has never specifically stated the reason for this, but the cancellation coincided with commotion about a negative culture within the company. There were various stories about an alleged ‘frat-boy culture’ and sexually transgressive behavior. Blizzard came under heavy fire for that.
