Sitedeals.nl, which provides a forum and marketplace for webmasters, has suffered a data breach. The ‘probable way in which access was obtained’ has been made impossible, according to the webmaster. The leak contains data that can be used for spam and phishing.
According to owner Job Schneider, this concerns usernames, dates of birth, passwords, e-mail addresses and IP addresses. Sitedeals.nl is an old website, which means that affected users have not been on the site for more than ten years. It runs on vBulletin 4.2.5, which is released in 2017. That software is now end of life.
Sitedeals.nl advises its users to change their password. The foreman of the forum has also reported the data breach to the Dutch Data Protection Authority. Members of the website have been informed of the situation by e-mail and there is also a forum topic where the matter is discussed and the owner of the site is also active.
