Discord reports ‘short-lived’ data breach to customer service

Discord has notified some users of a ‘short-lived’ data breach. Hackers allegedly hacked into an account belonging to a remote service employee. As a result, data from some customers could have been stolen.

According to a report that a Reddit user received from Discord, email addresses, customer support messages, and attachments to those same messages may have been intercepted by a third party.

The company writes that the remote employee’s account was immediately deactivated, and that additional malware checks were performed on that employee’s computer.

Discord, in collaboration with the external company responsible for customer service, has also taken additional measures to ensure that this type of incident will no longer occur. The company asks to remain vigilant regarding phishing and fraud.
