First PCIe 5.0 SSDs for sale in Japan from 354 euros

In Japan, the very first PCIe 5.0 SSDs are said to have been put on sale. It would be NVMe drives from the CFD Gaming brand with 2TB of storage space. The sequential read speed is 10 GB/s and the sequential write speed is 9.5 GB/s. The SSD costs 354 euros.

According to Wccftech, the PCIe 5.0 SSDs are available in several Japanese computer stores. The drives have been given product code CSSD-M2M2TPG5NFZ and have active cooling with a 20mm fan. Manufacturer CFD Gaming also added features such as Smart Data Processing, Predict *amp; Fetch and SLC Caching to the product.

The drive features a Phison Gen5 controller, the PS5026-E26. This controller theoretically allows a maximum throughput of 15.8GB/s, which is twice the speeds achieved by SSDs with a PCIe 4.0 x4 controller.

The listed price of 49,980 yen, which is converted about 354 euros, is lower than the prices mentioned in previous reports from Wccftech. It turned out at the end of last year that a 1TB PCIe 5.0 NVMe SSD from CFG Gaming would cost around 405 euros in Japan. The 2TB version should have cost 800 euros back then.
