Some users with a beta of the next feature upgrade for Android 13 report that dual sim with two e-sims works for them on the Google Pixel 7. It has been clear for some time that support for this is coming.
According to telecom journalist Mishaal Rahman van Esper, there are at least three people for whom it works, but also people for whom it does not work. That is why he speculates that this is a server-side update of the e-SIM manager on the Pixel 7. It is still unclear whether using two e-SIMs will result in the physical SIM card no longer being active.
The feature is called eSIM MEP, or Multiple Enabled Profiles. That feature is already in the Pixel 7, but was not activated until now. Previously, Google has said that the feature will be released in March and that is in line with its appearance in beta now. The beta of the feature upgrade, which comes once every three months, is for the March release.
Thanks to the feature, instead of a physical SIM card and e-SIM, users can also use two e-SIMs side by side. This would come in handy, for example, if users of an e-SIM in their home country also want to work with an e-SIM while traveling, for example because it is cheaper and more convenient at the destination.
