IKEA comes with a water-resistant bluetooth speaker. The speaker will be available in the Vappeby series and, according to the manufacturer, will receive an IP67 certification. The Vappeby speaker will be released in April in ‘all markets’ and will cost $ 15 in the US.
IKEA claims that the Vappeby has a battery life of up to 80 hours. According to IKEA, this is feasible at 50 percent volume. The speaker is charged via USB-C, but IKEA does not provide a USB-C cable or charger. The speaker also has an IP67 certification for dust and water resistance. This makes the Vappeby water resistant at a depth of one meter for up to 30 minutes. Users can also combine two Vappeby speakers for stereo sound.
The Vappeby bluetooth speaker is listed on the American IKEA website for $15. The company does not yet mention a euro price. IKEA does say that the speaker will be released in April in ‘all markets’, but the store does not mention a specific release date. IKEA previously released a speaker with integrated lamp in the Vappeby series, in addition to a night light for children. They cost 50 and 40 euros respectively in the Netherlands.
