Lenovo introduces thin Legion gaming laptop with Core i9 and RTX 4090

Lenovo introduces a new top model in the Legion line of Gamelaptops during the IFA. The Legion 9i is equipped with an Intel processor of the thirteenth generation and an RTX 4090 video card. Lenovo provides the laptop in collaboration with Coolermaster with water cooling.

Lenovo showed the Legion 9i during his presentation on the IFA and noted that with the cheaper Legion models it was always a thin ‘smart’ and one has faster ‘pro’ version. That is not the case with the Legion 9i, because this laptop must combine both properties in a system. The housing is 22.7 millimeters thick at the highest point, while the system is equipped with the fastest available hardware from Intel and Nvidia.

Striking about the design of the laptop is the back From the screen made of carbon fiber. In addition, it is striking that the keyboard is quite far forward in the housing. The part of the housing above is perforated and because of those holes the fans suck the cooling air, which is then blown out on the side and back. The laptop is also equipped with liquid cooling, which was developed together with Coolermaster. That cooling system runs over the working memory of the video card and switches on at 84 ° C. It is unclear how the liquid cooling works exactly, or what uses Lenovo coolant. The cooling could in any case remove a total of 230 watts of heat.

That heat is developed by a Core i9-13980hx processor and an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090 video card. The video card is configured on the maximum TGP of 150 watts and gets 25 Watt play space on top thanks to Dynamic Boost. There is also 32GB of memory at a speed of 6400mt/s available, or 64GB at 5600mt/s. There are also a Wi-Fi 7 network card, 2TB storage and a 99.99WH battery built in.

The 16 “screen of the Legion 9i has a resolution of 3200×2000 pixels and a Refresh Rate of 165Hz The screen has a peak clearance of 500cd/m², but optionally there is a version with a backlight from MiniLeds, which can deliver a peak clearance of 1200cd/m². The Legion 9i will be available in Europe in October for 4500 euros.
