Meta wants more users for Horizon Worlds by admitting teenagers

Meta wants to attract more users to its VR platform Horizon Worlds by also allowing teenagers. At the moment, users must be over the age of 18, but the company would also like to allow young people between the ages of 13 and 17.

The platform must be given tools and restrictions that are appropriate for that age group, says Meta in a memo viewed by The Wall Street Journal. Opening Horizon Worlds to teens could potentially happen as early as March.

Currently, 89 percent of users who try the app don’t return after a month. Meta wants to drop that percentage to 80 percent. As a result, the number of active users should increase from 200,000 now to 500,000 by summer and one million active users by the end of this year.

Horizon Worlds is the VR platform that shows Meta’s vision of the future with the metaverse. In Horizon Worlds, users can interact with each other as avatars. Horizon Worlds can be used as an app on the company’s Quest headsets.
