Microsoft is testing a split-screen feature in the Canary version of Edge that allows users to display two tabs in one window. By default, the two tabs are the same size, but users can choose to make one of the windows larger.
Users can enable the feature with an Experiments flag from Canary, discovered a Reddit user. Once enabled, users can choose to open a link on a page in a new tab within the window, or open an additional, existing tab within the window. They can also choose to enlarge one of the tabs, at the expense of the other tab.
The feature could be especially useful for users with many open windows, making it easier to organize tabs within bundle the windows. Vivaldi has a similar function with tab tiling. It is not clear when Microsoft’s split-screen feature will come to the stable version of the Chromium browser. The Edge split screen feature is available in Windows, Mac and Linux Canary versions.
