Microsoft will use the same plugin platform that OpenAI uses for ChatGPT. This makes it possible for developers to build plug-ins for OpenAI’s chatbot as well as for Microsoft applications such as Bing and the recent Copilot.
Microsoft announced this at the Build developer conference. Developers can build plugins for ChatGPT that will also work in Bing, which in turn uses OpenAI’s ChatGPT with Bing Chat. Those plug-ins must therefore also work in other AI services from Microsoft.
The company mentions, among other things, Copilot, the smart assistant for Windows 11 that unveiled it on Tuesday night. Also, the plugins work in Dynamics 365, another chatbot for CRM systems that Microsoft unveiled in March.
Microsoft says it is adding several proprietary plugins to the platform. These are plug-ins such as Expedia, Kayak and Instacart.
