Sony will continue to make smartphones for at least a few more years. It has signed a multi-year deal with processor designer Qualcomm.
It goes according to the announcement to multiple generations of smartphones in multiple categories: premium, high-end and midrange. Sony has been making the Xperia 1, 5 and 10 for years that fit into those categories. The 1 is the premium option, the 5 the high-end model and the 10 the midrange smartphone. Sony has been using Qualcomm socs for years and now promises to continue to do so in the coming years. Further details of the deal are unknown.
