Thunderful Games announces SteamWorld Build, an upcoming citybuilder in the SteamWorld series. The game will be released later this year for PC, current-gen and last-gen consoles. A specific release date has not yet been announced.
In SteamWorld Build, players build a mining town on top of an abandoned underground mine, announce Thunderful Games in a live stream. That mine is rumored to contain minerals and ancient technologies. In the game, players gradually expand their city with roads, trains, farms and restaurants. At the same time, they explore the underground mine to collect resources and eventually escape the planet.
SteamWorld Build will be the fifth game in the SteamWorld franchise. The game will be released simultaneously for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S and Nintendo Switch in 2023. Thunderful Games will also release a demo of the game via Steam. Build will also be the first 3D game in the franchise previous titles all featured 2d graphics.
Three other SteamWorld titles are currently in development. In 2021 SteamWorld Headhunter was already announced. That action adventure game also gets a 3d view and takes place in a third-person perspective. A puzzle game for smartphones and a strategy game in the series, writes Eurogamer.
