Twitter is testing a feature that allows users to directly subscribe to a newsletter from other Twitter users who use Revue’s paid newsletter service. The button will be shown on the web, in the Android app and for a limited number of followers for the time being.
The functionality is available to all users of the Revue newsletter service that Twitter acquired early this year . The button to subscribe is initially shown to a limited group of followers and is located below the space where the personal information of a Twitterer can be read.
After touching the button, a menu appears in which an example of the newsletter can be requested or can be subscribed directly. If the latter option is indicated, a confirmation email will be sent. The button is currently only available on the Twitter app for Android and in the browser. According to the Revue team , a rollout to all users is underway.
Twitter took over Revue, a Dutch service for paid newsletters, at the beginning of this year. This service was founded in 2015 by Martijn de Kuijper and Mohamed El Maslouhi. After the acquisition, Revue’s Pro features became free for all accounts. The commission was also reduced to 5 percent.
