HTC will announce a new smartphone on May 18. This is evident from promotional material that the Taiwanese company has shared on social media. According to GSMArena, this is the previously unannounced HTC U23 Pro smartphone.
In the image that HTC distributed via Twitter shows the outline of a smartphone, a slogan and a date: May 18, 2023. The Viverse logo can also be seen at the bottom of the image; that’s HTC’s open metaverse platform. Via Viverse various VR applications are possible such as VR meetings, events, presentations, and arcade experiences. It is not clear whether this smartphone will be able to use this platform.
According to GSMArena, the image shows the U23 Pro. Last week, photos and suspected specifications of this smartphone surfaced in China. The HTC U23 Pro would have four cameras on the back and an OLED display with a refresh rate of 120Hz.
The primary camera has a 108-megapixel sensor. The device would run on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 soc and contain 8GB of RAM. The storage space of the leaked device was 256GB. The frame and the back of the device would be made of plastic. The device would contain a battery of 4600mAh and support wireless charging. HTC has not yet shared any official specifications of the HTC U23 Pro.
